Does my child need a uniform (Gi) for their first class?
No. For your first few introductory sessions, your child just needs comfortable sports clothing (like a t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms) and a water bottle. We train barefoot. If you choose to enroll after your trial, our popular introductory packages can include an official white Adidas Karate Gi uniform.
Is Sport Karate safe? Will my child get hurt or forced to fight?
Our classes are highly structured, disciplined, and entirely non-contact for beginners. We focus heavily on Wado Sport Karate Kata (precision movement patterns) rather than heavy combat sparring. Your child will learn self-defence boundaries, agility, and control in a supportive environment where safety is our absolute priority.What if my child is exceptionally shy, quiet, or easily distracted?
Building focus and self-belief is exactly what we specialize in. Sensei Kris has over 45 years of active martial arts experience and 15+ years as a professional instructor. We do not shout or intimidate; we use structured, positive reinforcement to gently guide easily distracted children into laser-focus and help quiet children discover their personal power.
Can my child train once or twice a week?
Our flexible Swindon schedule runs on Mondays (Eldene Centre) and Thursdays (Park South Centre) at 6:00 PM. Our Progress (£55) and Elite (£79) membership tiers are specifically designed to accommodate training twice per week, which significantly accelerates a child’s confidence, muscle memory, and progression through the belts.
Are there any hidden costs or surprise association fees?
We believe in 100% financial transparency. Our monthly membership structures cover all your standard floor fees with zero surprise additions. Furthermore, our Progress tier offers automatic grading fee discounts, and our Elite tier includes all standard club belt gradings completely free of charge.
