4th Dan Wado Sport Karate

With over 45 years of active martial arts involvement and more than 15 years as a professional educator, Sensei Kris is dedicated to helping students discover their true potential through Wado Sport Karate.
As a 2-time National Kata Champion (winning titles in 2002 and 2004), Sensei Kris understands the precise mechanics, dedication, and mental focus required to achieve excellence on the national stage. In 2021, his decades of commitment were recognized by the EKO when he was officially awarded his 4th Dan Black Belt
A Diverse Foundation Built For Quality Coaching
Sensei Kris’s martial arts journey began in 1979 with traditional Kung Fu. He went on to study Goju-Ryu Karate in the late 1980s before dedicating his life to Wado-Ryu Karate starting in 1994 with the EWSKA in Oxford. This vast, multi-style background gives him an incredibly deep understanding of body mechanics, enabling him to teach fluid speed, joint protection, and explosive power safely to students of all fitness levels.
Student Safety & Peace of Mind
Beyond technical expertise, the WKSKA dojo prioritizes student welfare. Sensei Kris holds an Enhanced DBS Check, is fully First Aid Trained, and regularly coaches active students at official WKF and Premier League tournaments.
Whether your goal is to build school-term focus, master anti-bullying confidence, or train to become a future national karate champion, you are receiving instruction from a qualified, verified, and passionate master of the art.

My Karate Journey
From My First Lesson in 1979 to Founding WKSKA
Where It All Began

1979

Every journey has a beginning. Mine started in 1979 when I walked into my first karate class. I had no idea that one lesson would become a lifelong passion. Over the following decades, karate shaped my character, taught me discipline and resilience, led me to become a two-time National Kata Champion, achieve the rank of 4th Dan, and ultimately inspired me to establish WKSKA to help others experience the same benefits.

Competition Success

2002 & 2004

Winning my first National Kata Championship in 2002, followed by a second title in 2004, was the result of years of disciplined training. These achievements reinforced my belief that consistent effort and attention to detail produce lasting success.

Although my National Championship victories came in 2002 and 2004, I continue to compete today, continuing to represent England at national and international level while constantly striving to improve my own karate. I believe the best instructors never stop learning.

Why I Teach

15+ Years

Although I have enjoyed success in competition, my greatest achievement is seeing my students grow in confidence, develop resilience and achieve goals they never thought possible. Every student is different, and my aim is to create a positive, supportive environment where everyone can reach their full potential through Wado Sport Karate.

For more than 15 years, I have had the privilege of teaching children and adults of all ages and abilities. Watching students develop confidence, discipline and resilience is the most rewarding part of my karate journey.

Why I Founded WKSKA

Today

After more than four decades of training, competing and teaching, I wanted to create the kind of karate organisation I always believed students deserved. WKSKA was founded on the principles of professionalism, respect, continuous learning and personal development. My goal has never simply been to teach karate techniques—it has always been to help children and adults build confidence, discipline and resilience that will benefit them throughout their lives.

I Look Forward to Meeting You
Every student's journey is unique.
