Every journey has a beginning. Mine started in 1979 when I walked into my first karate class. I had no idea that one lesson would become a lifelong passion. Over the following decades, karate shaped my character, taught me discipline and resilience, led me to become a two-time National Kata Champion, achieve the rank of 4th Dan, and ultimately inspired me to establish WKSKA to help others experience the same benefits.
Winning my first National Kata Championship in 2002, followed by a second title in 2004, was the result of years of disciplined training. These achievements reinforced my belief that consistent effort and attention to detail produce lasting success.
Although my National Championship victories came in 2002 and 2004, I continue to compete today, continuing to represent England at national and international level while constantly striving to improve my own karate. I believe the best instructors never stop learning.
Although I have enjoyed success in competition, my greatest achievement is seeing my students grow in confidence, develop resilience and achieve goals they never thought possible. Every student is different, and my aim is to create a positive, supportive environment where everyone can reach their full potential through Wado Sport Karate.
For more than 15 years, I have had the privilege of teaching children and adults of all ages and abilities. Watching students develop confidence, discipline and resilience is the most rewarding part of my karate journey.
After more than four decades of training, competing and teaching, I wanted to create the kind of karate organisation I always believed students deserved. WKSKA was founded on the principles of professionalism, respect, continuous learning and personal development. My goal has never simply been to teach karate techniques—it has always been to help children and adults build confidence, discipline and resilience that will benefit them throughout their lives.
“The greatest achievement isn’t winning medals—it’s helping someone discover confidence they never knew they had.”
